TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said August is a happy month for all pregnant women since Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin passed a regulation on the Covid-19 vaccination for ladies experiencing pregnancy.
“Inshallah, this is the answer, and at the same time a gift of independence for pregnant women throughout Indonesia,” said Anies in a speech broadcasted via the Indonesian Obstetrician and Gynecologist Association's (POGI) YouTube channel on Thursday, August 19.
He outlined that 1,754 pregnant women in Jakarta have received the first dose. He also said that pregnant women are a vulnerable group to being exposed to the coronavirus because they still have to leave the house, such as go shopping for household needs.
The vaccine program, he added, has become an answer to their worries. “There is no mother who does not think about the safety of her baby,” Anies Baswedan said.
On August 2, the Health Ministry issued a permit for pregnant women to get the Covid-19 vaccine in an effort to prevent the risk of experiencing severe symptoms. This policy is contained in Circular HK.02.01/I/2007/2021 regarding Covid-19 vaccination for pregnant women and screening adjustments in the vaccination program.
