TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In an annual meeting of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) on Monday, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo delivered a speech acknowledging that the Covid-19 pandemic has introduced fatigue and misery for society.
Which has resulted in waves of criticism addressed to the government, especially the aspects that the government has yet been able to solve.
“I understand the existence of exhaustion, boredom, fatigue, grief, and affliction throughout the Covid-19 pandemic,” said the President on August 16 ahead of the Indonesian independence day.
However, he believes the importance of constructive criticism is always answered by the government through the fulfillment of responsibility, as the public expects. He insists that in order to realize this year’s Indonesian independence slogan the general public must be prepared to change and face the world full of disruption.
“Thank you to all Indonesians who contributed as active citizens and continue to build the democratic culture,” said Jokowi. “A tough and growing Indonesia can only be achieved when we work hand-in-hand for the same goal.”
