KGPAA Mangkunegara IX Passes Away in Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ruler of Mangkunegaran Palace, Kanjeng Gusti Pangeran Adipati Arya or KGPAA Mangkunegara IX, passed away in Jakarta, early Friday, August 13. The body will be taken to Solo before being buried in Astana Girilayu, Karanganyar, Solo.
Mangkunegaran Palace spokesman, Joko Pramedyo, confirmed the news of the passing king. “That’s right. He passed away early this morning,” he said.
However, he stopped short of detailing the illness suffered by Mangkunegara IX prior to death. He could not also confirm the funeral process.
“We are still waiting for information from the internal families,” Joko added.
Tempo received information that Mangkunegara IX died in Jakarta, and that the latter’s body would be taken to Solo by land transport.
Upon arrival in Solo, the body will be taken to the Mangkunegaran Palace before being buried at Astana Girilayu, Karanganyar, the Mangkunegaran family’s funeral complex. “Information about the funeral process will be announced soon,” Joko said.
