Jakarta Race Not Included in 2022 Formula E Provisional Calendar

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The International Automobile Federation (FIA) Formula E announced the provisional calendar for the eighth season of the electric motorsports championship, which will feature 16 races across 12 countries around the world.
Based on the schedule, there are new locations included in the 2022 edition of the race, viz. Cape Town in South Africa and Vancouver in Canada. The races in Seoul, South Korea, will also have two rounds.
Meanwhile, the China race is still being confirmed, and there will likely be another race as a replacement if the China race is canceled in the schedule.
Of the total 12 cities included in the provisional calendar, the Jakarta race is not scheduled. Since last year, the Jakarta Provincial Government has been intensively preparing for this much-anticipated electric car racing event.
Latest news suggested that Formula E will likely include Jakarta in the vacant slot on June 4, 2022. However, the addition of Jakarta is still awaiting the results of the FIA next meeting that will be held on October 15, 2021.
The 2022 Formula E provisional calendar is as follow:
- Diriyah, Saudi Arabia on January 28-29, 2022
- Mexico City, Mexico on February 12, 2022
- Cape Town, South Africa on February 26, 2022
- China (to be confirmed) on March 19, 2022
- Rome, Italy on April 9, 2022
- Monaco on April 30, 2022
- Berlin, Germany on May 14, 2022
- June 4, 2022: to be confirmed
- Vancouver, Canada on July 2, 2022
- New York City, U.S. on July 16-17, 2022
- London, England on July 30-31, 2022
- Seoul, South Korea on August 13-14, 2022
