Indonesia Expands Emergency PPKM to Areas Outside Java, Bali

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia is expanding the emergency state of movement restrictions, known as the Emergency PPKM. Starting today, July 12, the restriction is not only applied in Java and Bali, but also in 15 regencies and cities outside the islands.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that the regencies and cities have ticked all three boxes that make them categorized as areas requiring restrictions. They are hospital bed occupancy rate above 65 percent, significant case surges, and less than 50 percent vaccination rate.
The 15 regencies/cities are:
- Kota Padang
- Padang Panjang
- Bukittinggi
- Balikpapan
- Bandarlampung
- Pontianak
- Manokwari
- Sorong
- Batam
- Bontang
- Singkawang
- Berau
- Tanjungpinang
- Mataram
- Medan
