TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Following the rising cases of Covid-19 - mainly caused by the new Covid-19 strains - the Jakarta Administration has decided to establish an oxygen refilling station touted as the ‘oxygen rescue’ located in Central Jakarta’s National Monument (Monas) area.
The city’s official on population and settlement control, Suharti, on Sunday, July 4, explained that the oxygen refilling station is the partnership between the regional administration and Indonesia’s largest steel maker Krakatau Steel.
The refilling station provides additional oxygen tanks, refilling, and the distribution of oxygen tanks for healthcare facilities, namely general hospitals and private hospitals. Hospitals will be given a quota of 10 free oxygen refilling for large-sized tanks.
“We want to ensure that oxygen supplies to hospitals will continue to run smoothly. We have collaborated with other parties in providing this,” said Suhari.
He made it clear that the initial partnership involves partnership with the steel maker but said the city is open to future partnerships with private sectors in terms of providing either tanks or oxygen refilling services as the Covid-19 situation remains high.
Head of Jakarta’s health resources, Purwadi, explains that the distribution of the tanks in the oxygen refilling station utilizes vehicles owned by the city that are able to carry large payload and take at least five hours to refill the tanks at the Krakatau Steel headquarters and return to the Monas ‘oxygen rescue’ post.
