TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government plans on constructing light rapid transit (LRT) in Bali, as discussed in a meeting between Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi and South Korean Ambassador to Indonesia Park Tae-sung.
Budi claimed the South Korean government was interested and sought possible involvement in the project construction. “We welcome the South Korean government’s intent to be involved in the LRT construction projects in Bali and Jakarta,” Budi said in a statement on Monday, June 14, 2021.
Budi said the Bali provincial administration had been in touch with the South Korean government to formulate a prefeasibility study on the construction of LRT serving the Ngurah Rai Airport-Seminyak route measuring 9.46 kilometers.
Presently, the Bali administration and the South Korea National Railway are also conducting reviews to support the planned construction of the second phase of LRT serving the Seminyak-Mengwitani route.
In the meeting, Budi Karya Sumadi and Ambassador Park Tae-sung also looked into the possibilities of cooperation in the construction of the phase four of MRT Jakarta serving the Fatmawati-Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) route.
