ICW Presents New Evidence in Firli Bahuri's Helicopter Rent Case

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) has presented a new piece of evidence to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) supervisory board in the alleged case of misconduct committed by the anti graft’s chairperson Firli Bahuri

Firli had allegedly violated the institution’s rules by riding on board a luxury helicopter in one of his work visits.

“Our report differs from the verdict that was handed by the supervisory board,” said ICW researcher Kurnia Ramadhana at the  Anti Corruption Learning Center headquarters on June 11.

Kurnia argued that the board failed to confirm the claim that the renting cost for the luxurious helicopter was only Rp7 million per hour, which the KPK chair had allegedly rented for four hours.

ICW found evidence that the rent rate was far higher than what the chairperson claimed as they compared it to the rent service provider’s clients. ICW found a Rp140 million difference for the rent of one helicopter in Firli’s 4-hour trip.

He then called for the KPK supervisory board to view the new piece of evidence objectively and hoped that it would not be easily dismissed.
