KPK Questions Komnas HAM Summon for Firli Bahuri

9 June 2021 17:24 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned the summon for an examination of its chairman Firli Bahuri issued by the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM). Firli was summoned over alleged human rights violations in the implementation of the civic knowledge test (TWK).

“KPK wants to first confirm which violations of human rights related to the TWK implementation of promoting KPK employees into ASN (state civil apparatus),” said Acting KPK Spokesperson Ali Fikri in a written statement on Wednesday, June 9.

Ali argued that they are vital for KPK to convey data and information that are needed in the examination.

He explained that the TWK was in accordance with Law No. 19 of 2019, Government Regulation No. 41 of 2020, and the KPK Regulation No. 1 of 2021.

“KPK respects the main duties and functions of Komnas HAM. Thus, we are waiting for the reply of the letter sent to Komnas HAM on June 7, 2021,” Ali added.

Komnas HAM reportedly summoned Firli over the alleged human rights violation on June 8, 2021. However, the KPK chairman failed to meet the call. Komnas HAM planned to summon Firli again on Tuesday next week.

Firli Bahuri inaugurated 1,271 KPK employees who passed the TWK as State Civil Apparatus (ASN) on Tuesday, June 1, at the KPK office building. President Joko Widodo or Jokowi signed the decree on the promotion of KPK employees into the ASN on May 31.
