TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta has seen an increasing rate of Covid-19 cases over the last few weeks. The capital's Health Office is anticipating more widespread transmission by adding new controlled isolation areas, preparing at least 28 new ones.
The Health Office's head of public health, Fify Mulyani, said that the addition of controlled isolation locations was listed in Governor's Decree number 675 of 2021.
"The use of these locations is divided into three stages," Fify said on Tuesday, June 8.
For the first stage, there will be five isolation venues with a total capacity of 607 people. For phase two, there will be seven locations with a total capacity of 6,648 people. In stage three, there will be 19 locations with a total capacity of 994 people.
Despite preparing dozens of new isolation locations, to this day Jakarta is still relying on Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital and other referral hospitals.
"If the occupancy rate at Wisma Athletes is more than 80 percent, then the isolation areas prepared by the capital administration will be used," he said.
Jakarta has been recording around 1,000 new cases daily. Deputy governor Ahmad Riza Patria said that the increase occurred after the Eid Holiday.
