TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Sony reportedly has shipped 3.4 million PlayStation 5 or PS5 units in the first four weeks since they were made available, the highest ever recorded for a PlayStation console.
Serkan Toto of Katan Games Inc. saw the report by Digitimes and posted it to his twitter account @serkantoto.
"Sony They also say 2021 will see 16.8-18mn PS5 shipped after a supply stream ramp-up, with more units reserved for Asia from January," he said as quoted by WCCF Tech, Tuesday, December 29.
Although unconfirmed, the 3.4 million figure matches a report from earlier this year that says Sony plans to ship 10 million PS5 units by March 2021, an increase from a previous target of five to six million shipments.
PS5 saw its worldwide launch last month. It is available in two different editions: the regular one with Bluray drive and the digital edition.
