TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President director of PT Tiki Jalur Nugraha Ekakurir known as JNE, Muhammad Feriadi, on Wednesday said that the courier service firm is not affiliated with certain organizations, groups, or individuals. Asserting its neutrality, he did not mention anything related to SARA (ethnicity, religion, and race).
“JNE simply only wants to do business, help SME’s and help people distribute goods,” said Feriadi in North Jakarta on December 16.
His public clarification comes after strong rumors on Twitter associating JNE with Haikal Hassan - who is the spokesman of the 212 alumni brotherhood (PA 212 group) seen by many as a far-right group.
The rumor developed after JNE’s Twitter account @JNE_ID reportedly uploaded a birthday card sent by Haikal on December 4, 2020, which troubled many Twitter users and gave way to a hashtag calling for a boycott against JNE.
There were also rumors about Haikal having partial ownership in the courier service firm, which was denied by Feriadi who said JNE shares are owned by six people representing the family of Suprapto Suparno. He, himself, is one of the owners, while the other five include Johari Zein, Chandra Fireta, Marselinus Kuncoro Adi, Hui Mariawati and Mirta Akbari.
