TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An Advocates Coalition representing 68 medical colleges and associations has issued a legal notice against Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto demanding him to revoke the Health Minister’s Regulation No.24/2020 on clinical radiology services.
The coalition’s spokesperson Muhammad Luthfie Hakim in his statement said that they give the Health Minister 7-days to revoke the regulation, which they believe is fueled by a strong conflict of interest and other problematic issues.
Apart from the notice, the spokesperson will also represent his clients upon filing for a judicial review against the Health Minister’s Regulation with three main objections as follow:
- The issuance of the law amid the pandemic shows that Terawan tends to favor his colleagues who are radiology specialists. This, as the coalition views, sacrifices the interest of public health.
- The coalition believes that Minister Terawan’s background as a radiology specialist is one of the strong reasons the regulation was issued with a vested interest in mind. The regulation’s weak moral basis can also push Terawan to abuse his power in office.
- The conflict between the Health Minister’s Regulation No.24/2020 and Law No.29/2004 on medical practices and many others contained in the Indonesian Medical Council regulations (Perkonsil).
