Govt Wage Subsidy to be Disbursed for 3 Million Workers this Week

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Manpower Ministry on Sunday announced that it is eyeing to shell out the Rp37.7 trillion wage subsidy for employees in a follow-up phase that plans to directly transfer the aid to three million workers this week.
“We have asked for the records of the recipients for further processes. We are eyeing 3 million [workers data] and not just 2.5 million so it can accelerate the budget absorption,” said Manpower Minister Ida Fauziah in Semarang, August 30.
The government is has set a goal to subsidize 15.7 million Indonesian workers who are employees who are underpaid or not paid a wage at all during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“We are collecting the bank accounts of the recipients, the data we gathered in total amounts to 13.8 million workers and are now being validated by the Workers Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan).
The government wage subsidy program will see workers receive Rp2.4 million for four months.
