TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Mandate Party (PAN) senior member Amien Rais on Friday claimed that he had been fired from the party that he founded, which he suspected was due to his stand against the party’s choice upon joining forces with the government.
Amien revealed this during an online discussion “the dangers of communism in Islam” that was published in a Youtube video today, July 24.
“I am no longer in PAN. I have been expelled by my people as I refuse to agree [with the party's decision] in joining forces with the regime that [cannot be understood anymore],” said Amien Rais.
In the discussion, Amien Rais criticized PAN officials that visited the Palace to meet President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo. He also encouraged new PAN management to rethink their decision before joining Jokowi’s administration - which he deemed irrational - based on “ratio and religious considerations.”
