TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Trade Agus Suparmanto on Tuesday said the government lifted the restriction on exports of personal protective equipment (PPE) and face mask raw materials, which is overseen under Trade Ministry’s Regulation No.57/2020.
“I have signed it and it is in the process of making it into law by the Law and Human Rights Ministry,” said Agus on Tuesday.

Moreover, Agus mentioned that the move is meant to boost national economic growth in the industrial sector and improve the performance of exports amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this, he hopes to strengthen Indonesia’s trade balance and support the economic recovery in the new normal phase.
Several exceptions for exporters will remain effective up to June 30.
The minister assures that the reopening of exports has considered the domestic supply and that the Trade Ministry controls the mechanism through an export approval system or PE. “The mechanism with PE applies to raw materials for face masks, surgical face masks, N-95 masks, PPE coverall, and surgical gowns.”
