TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi reminded people of the World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations that all people should wear face masks when leaving the house.
"At the beginning, I said only those who were sick should wearing masks. I now take that back—everyone who leave their homes must wear masks," Jokowi said during a teleconference meeting from the Bogor Presidential Palace on Monday, April 6.
For this reason, the President asked all of his staff to ensure the availability of masks for the public.
The government spokesman for Covid-19 Task Force, Achmad Yurianto, suggested people wear reusable cloth masks. Meanwhile, surgical masks and N95 masks are prioritized for medical workers.
"This is important because we never know who out there are carrying the virus without showing symptoms," he said on Sunday, April 5.
Yurianti recommends wearing cloth masks no more than 4 hours, and then to wash the face masks with soap after use.
