TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The longest bridge connecting Bekasi Regency and Karawang Regency, officially operates on Wednesday afternoon, February 12, 2020. The bridge inaugurated by Bekasi Regent Eka Supria Atmaja and Karawang Regent Cellica Nurrachadiana.
The Secretary of Bekasi Regency Public Works and Public Housing Agency, Iman Nugraha, said the bridge that connects two regions has a length of 1,217 meters and a width of seven meters.
"With a total length of 1.2 kilometers, this bridge is the longest in Bekasi and Karawang," Iman said in Cikarang, Thursday, February 13, 2020.
Iman said that the bridge over the Citarum River crossed the area of Pebayuran District of Bekasi Regency along 909 meters and stretched until it passed the Rengasdengklok District of Karawang Regency as far as 308.5 meters.
"The total budget spent by the Bekasi Regency Government for the construction of the bridge reached Rp 45 billion," he said.
Imam explained the process to build the bridge divided into three steps, the first step was in 2017, that is building the foundations and approach road by the two regions.
In 2018 they continue the construction of a road approaching the bridge, which has not completed in the previous year and in 2019 they begin to build a bridge with a steel frame construction with a curved roof design and other complementary buildings.
"As a complement to roads and bridge sidewalks, public street lighting, as well as foundation protectors. In 2017, we spent Rp17 billion, in 2018, we spent Rp4 billion, and last year we spent Rp24 billion, made a total of Rp45 billion," he said.
Bekasi Regent Eka Supria Atmaja said the connecting bridge built because of the commitment and close ties between Bekasi Regency and Karawang Regency.
"Hopefully this bridge can become a pride of the Bekasi and Karawang people, and we also hope this can facilitate the flow of goods and services transportation," said Eka.
Karawang Regent Cellica Nurrachadianab hopes that the bridge can facilitate people's access so that it can move the wheels of the community's economy, especially the people of Pebayuran District, Bekasi Regency and Rengasdengklok District, Karawang Regency. "This connecting bridge has a positive impact on improving the economy of the community, especially residents of Pebayuran District and Rengasdengklok District," Cellica said.
