TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) expressed suspicion about the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) search for a new spokesman. The anti-graft watchdog suspects that the plan from KPK’s new chairman is motivated by revenge against certain figures in KPK.
“We suspect this policy is an act of revenge from five KPK leaders against certain figures in the organization,” said ICW researcher Kurnia Ramadhana in a written statement on Tuesday, December 24.
According to Kurnia, leaders of an organization should first consult plans with KPK’s human resources bureau before officially looking for a new spokesman. This consulting period is essential as it would analyze and properly measure Febri Diansyah’s performance as KPK spokesman.
“If the two issues end with a conclusion that there is no urgency to search for a new spokesman. Then what is motivating the five KPK leaders to issue such policy?” said Kurnia who had doubted the performance of KPK’s new leaders since the beginning.
“Sooner or later the public’s doubts will be confirmed by their performance,” he said.
