Police to Start 2:1 Traffic System Trial Run in Puncak

TEMPO.CO, Bogor - Bogor Traffic Police stated it will launch a trial run of 2:1 traffic system ahead of the year-end holidays and establish a car-free night event during the new year's eve in Puncak, Bogor.
The city traffic police chief Adj. Comr. M. Fadli said the trial run is slated on Saturday, December 7. However, the one-way traffic policy will be implemented first in the morning, and the 2:1 traffic system will kick off from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. By which, one lane will be designated for traffic heading to Puncak and two other lanes will be for the opposite direction, Jakarta.
Fadli explained traffic on Saturday morning is heavier as people willing to prevent congestion in Jagorawi. “While on Sunday, we will apply the one-way traffic policy as usual,” he added.
As for the car-free day program, Fadli announced it will commence on Tuesday, December 31 from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, January 1. Roads to be closed include Pos Interchange 1 B, chicken statue gas station from Ciawi direction, RM Cimory, Ussu gas station, Taman Safari intersection, and Gunung Mas.
According to Fadli, the program is aimed at anticipating traffic density as many people will likely celebrate the new year's eve there. “We will disseminate this massively,” he said.
Fadli also called on the people planning to visit Puncak during Christmas and New Year holidays to follow the schedule on the traffic system.
