No Live Ammo in Securing MK Verdict on Election Dispute: Police

27 June 2019 10:33 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaA total of 13,747 personnel from Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police are standing guard around the building of the Constitutional Court (MK) ahead of the verdict trial on presidential election dispute today, June 27.

Central Jakarta Resort Police Chief Sr. Comr. Harry Kurniawan said that during the last police ceremony, the personnel was reminded to not equip their firearms with live rounds in the field.

“Provost has run a check to make sure no personnel brings live ammunition,” said Harry in Jalan Medan Merdeka, Central Jakarta, Thursday, June 27.

According to Harry, his institution did not issue a permit for people staging a rally in MK building. Thus if masses assemble in Horse Statue or Patung Kuda, they will be asked to return home.

“We, Central Jakarta Resort Police, did not issue a permit. We have an SOP from issuing a warning to taking stern action based on the law,” he added.

Previously, the 212 alumni brotherhood (PA 212) planned to resume their mass-gathering on Thursday, June 27, which coincides with the day MK will rule the presidential election dispute.
