TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi welcomed a number of associations overseeing micro, small, medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 18.
“This afternoon, I want to get recommendations prior to drafting a regulation on MSMEs that based on the latest data I’ve been informed amounted to 62.9 million business units in Indonesia,” said the President during his welcome speech.
Associations attended the session included the Indonesian micro and small enterprises association (HIPMIKINDO), Indonesian MSMEs association (AKUMINDO), and Indonesian MSMEs industry association (AKUMANDIRI), among others.
The former Jakarta Governor opined the Indonesian enterprises still have large opportunities to be developed, and that must be used well for many kinds of business in service, trade, up to SMEs industry. He recalled the times when his small business grew larger.
On the occasion, the President asked representatives of the associations to mention what facilities they need from the government to develop their business. However, he reminded all facilities given by the government should not discourage their entrepreneurship characters.
“Please, be careful that too many facilities sometimes may discourage our all entrepreneurship. The facility is necessary, but don’t let it undermine our own entrepreneurship character,” President Jokowi concluded.
