Prabowo Camp Finds Many Indications of 2019 Election Fraud

23 April 2019 09:27 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Prabowo - Sandiaga campaign team director for election debate, Sudirman Said, said his party witnessed many indications of violations, irregularities, and frauds during the 2019 General Elections’ voting day throughout Indonesia, from Aceh to Papua.

“In West Sumatra, a warehouse packed with election materials was burnt. In North Sumatra, a regent resigned from the position. In Nias, a regent was maddened because the C1 vote tally forms were hidden by someone,” said Sudirman in the campaign team media center, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Monday, April 22.

“In many regions, police officers seized, forcefully took the C1 forms. This is an indication of a mobilization of state apparatus that shows non-neutrality,” he added.

Sudirman also questioned the Election Commission’s (KPU) decision in using cardboard ballot boxes for this year's election. “It is easily ripped when flooding, easily burnt. And it’s so funny that the padlock was opened by scissor,” he noted.

Sudirman asserted those incidents potentially harm the election result. Thus, he called on the public to jointly monitor the vote count process until the end.

“Whatever the result, it has been damaged by those processes. The number must be suspected as it is the result of the unfair election. Who gets the chance to carry out unfair [election]? It’s impossible for the opposition. We don’t have authorities, we don’t have apparatus, we don’t have the structure,” he said.

The former Energy and Mineral Resources Minister said his campaign team's efforts in upholding an honest and fair process of the vote count was not merely for the winning of Prabowo - Sandiaga. More than so, he said, this attempt was carried out to generate justice and sovereignty of the people in the election process.

“So don't steal anyone’s votes. Both votes for [candidate number] 01 and 02 must be fought to obtain fair results. Insha-Allah (If God permits), we can rewrite the history that this 2019 general elections cannot be tricked just because there are people willing to rule in all ways. If that happens, it will be the greatest historical sin,” Sudirman Said concluded.
