TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said that Indonesia elections 2019 run well and even 22 world leaders praised the successful establishment of the event.
“I have received calls this afternoon from Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and Singaporean Prime Minister, as well as Turkish President and other 22 state leaders,” said the president and incumbent candidate at Plataran Restaurant, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, April 18.
The congratulation was also delivered to himself and his running mate Ma’ruf Amin. Referred to results of quick count conducted by various survey agencies, the incumbent is ahead of the rivals Prabowo - Sandiaga in the presidential race.
Jokowi said his side was still waiting for the official count from the General election Commission (KPU) even though he believed in the accuracy of those pollsters. “However, we have to be patient, waiting for the official result from KPU,” he noted.
Upon the success of the Indonesia elections 2019, the President lauded all staffers of KPU, Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), and the Election Organization Ethics Council (DKPP), as well as Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) that have guarded the public order so the election day on April 17 run smoothly and peacefully.
“Thank you for all people who actively used their right to vote, participated in the election, and maintained security,” President Jokowi remarked.
