Obama, Trump Never Mentioned Freeport, Jokowi Says

TEMPO.CO, Probolinggo - Presidential candidate and incumbent Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo said that neither Barack Obama nor Donald Trump—in their capacity as presidents of the United States, ever said a word about Freeport when he met with them.
"I met Obama during the takeover process. He said nothing. I met Trump, he also said nothing. [Freeport] is a business affair, no one made a fuss about it," Obama said during his campaign at the Mastrip Sports Stadium in Probolinggo, East Java, today, April 10.
Joko Widodo spoke about what happened during the process of Freeport's takeover, including how someone threatened that it would divide Papua. The president said he and his ministers did not budge and pushed through with the divestment. And at the end of 2018, Indonesia successfully became the controlling shareholder of the mining company.
Widodo said that it is weird when people accuse him of being a "foreigners' puppet" because what he had been doing is returning state assets to Indonesia—including the Mahakam Block, and the Rokan Block.
The incumbent reminded the public not to be easily influenced by lies and fake information with no credibility.
