4th Election Debate; KPU to Tightly Monitor Time Limit

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe General Election Commission (KPU) commissioner Wahyu Setiawan said his side will tightly monitor the time limit allotted for each presidential candidate in the fourth election debate on March 30.

Each candidate will be given eight minutes to convey his views or answer questions from the debate rival. “Moderator will keep the time in check,” said Wahyu in his office, Central Jakarta, on Friday, March 22.

According to Wahyu, the KPU will uphold the principle of justice in light of the eight-minute duration given for each candidate in the upcoming debate.

“Moderator has a strategic role in managing the debate traffic,” he noted, adding that the change was made following the evaluation result of the previous election debate on March 17.

In the fourth election debate, presidential candidates Jokowi and Prabowo Subianto will talk about issues on ideology, governance, security, and international relations in Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta. The last two out of five segments will be a question and answer session between each candidate.
