Jokowi's Camp Denies Ahmad Dhani's Case Politically Motivated

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Polling institute Indonesia Survey Circle (LSI) Denny JA reveals that the criminal case incriminating musician Ahmad Dhani has affected Jokowi’s electability among the educated voter group.

However, Jokowi – Ma’ruf Amin campaign team (TKN) spokesman Ace Hasan Syadzily strongly denies that Dhani’s hate speech case is politically motivated.

“Some people see Ahmad Dhani’s case in a political viewpoint. Even though the case is within the legal spectrum and has no connections to politics,” said Ace to Tempo on Thursday, February 7.

Ace asserts that Ahmad Dhani’s case is processed under the legal department which in itself cannot be intervened or pressured even by a state leader such as the president. The court, he said, works independently which should be respected.

“It would be mistaken to think that Ahmad Dhani’s case is seen as a criminalization attempt from pressures outside of the court,” he said.

LSI researcher Adjie Alfaraby previously said that the case will affect certain segments such as among the educated groups who are in general against a state government that is overly dominant upon facing criticism.
