TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi refused to comment when asked about the demand for the revocation of a remission for I Nyoman Susrama, the killer of AA Gde Bagus Narendra Prabangsa, a Radar Bali daily reporter.
Instead, the president referred the press to Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly. “Ask the minister,” said Jokowi in Bekasi City square field, West Java, today, January 25.
Meanwhile, Yasonna said Wednesday at the Presidential Palace complex that criticism against a governmental decision was normal. He added that a sinner could have a second chance.

“If you commit a sin and repent it, will you enter hell? No, isn’t it? So, don’t politically assess an issue,” he noted, adding that the remission had been granted according to legal procedures.
Earlier, the Independent Journalists Alliance (AJI) of Denpasar, Malang, and Bojonegoro urged President Jokowi to annul the pardon for a journalist murderer as the decision could undermine the enforcement of press freedom in the country.
