TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Spokesman for the TNI's Jakarta Military District Command (Kodam Jaya) Col. Infantry Kristomei Sianturi revealed that murder suspect Sergeant Jhoni Risdianto was under the influence of alcohol when he executed Lt. Col. Dono Kuspriyanto.
Jhoni is believed to be from the TNI's Air Force Military Police Center.
“The suspect was drunk at the time of the shooting. I highly advise the public to be patient and refrain from making wild assumptions,” said Kristomei at the East Jakarta’s Kodam Jaya media center today, Dec. 26.
Lt. Col. Dono Kuspriyanto died after he was shot several times by Jhoni Risdianto in West Jatinegara, East Jakarta, on Tuesday night December 25.
Suspect Jhoni was able to be arrested just five hours after the incident took place. He was apprehended in Kramatjati, East Jakarta, by a joint operation team comprising of police and TNI members.
Kristomei initially asserted that Jhoni’s intent is purely criminally driven, however, the Kodam Jaya investigators are currently studying the case. An initial investigation concludes that Jhoni, who was riding a motorcycle, was involved in a minor traffic accident with the late TNI's Lt. Col. Dono who was driving a car prior to Jhoni shooting four times into Dono’s car.
