Police to Announce Suspects of Sinkhole at Jalan Gubeng, Surabaya

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The East Java Police revealed that it has prepared legal steps to incriminate several parties deemed responsible in the emergence of a massive sinkhole at Jalan Gubeng in Surabaya on Tuesday evening, December 18.
“This also includes corporations,” said East Java Police Deputy Chief Brig. Gen. Toni Harmanto today, Dec. 20.
Toni, who was appointed to lead the investigation team, promised to announce the suspects following a deeper investigation is completed. He explained that police are working together with experts in the field and questioned witnesses comprising of technicians, expert witnesses, and other facts in the field.

“We are digging deeper into signs of a technical mishap in the expansion of the Siloam Hospital nearby,” said Toni.
Jalan Gubeng street in Surabaya collapsed on late Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at around 21:10 local time, which has resulted at the emergence of a giant 20-meter deep sinkhole that practically disconnected the street through the 30-meter wide sinkhole. The street has been closed since Tuesday.
