Uncovering Mystery of 8th-Century Ancient Stupa in Teras, Boyolali

A team of archaeologists from the Cultural Preservation Agency (BPK) Region X of Central Java examined the location of the discovery of an ancient stupa in Nepen Village, Teras District, Boyolali Regency, Central Java, on May 30, 2026. The large stone, measuring 1.25 meters high and 1.30 meters in diameter, was confirmed to be a stupa from the classical Hindu-Buddhist period. The team of archaeologists successfully identified the building's structure, consisting of the prasada (base of the stupa), anda (body of the stupa), harmika, and yasti (top of the stupa). This cultural heritage object is estimated to date from around the 8th to 10th century AD. Tempo/Septhia Ryanthie
