TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti opened the 2018 International Kayak Marathon in Tanjung Kelayang Beach, Bangka Belitung Island.

“Wish you success and please play fair,” she said in her photo caption posted on Instagram, Saturday, July 28.

After opening the marathon, Susi distributed swimming goggles to the local children. She expected the children to enjoy the beauty of the sea. “So they’ll be able to swim and see the underwater,” she added.

Minister Susi was determined to distribute the swimming goggles as she earlier saw those coastal children did not wear it while swimming. “I watch the kids are confused seeing tourists wearing goggles,” she said.

The distribution of swimming goggles was a program initiated by Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry. Susi Pudjiastuti expected the googles would help them see the underwaters clearer hence it would develop their care and love towards the sea since their early childhood.
