Jokowi Reviews 2018 Asian Games Venue in Palembang

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi reviewed the readiness of the 2018 Asian Games arena at the complex of Gelora Sriwijaya Jakabaring Sport City, Palembang, on Saturday, July 14.

Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media Secretariat of the President, Bey Machmudin, said the first location visited by Jokowi was Gelora Sriwijaya Field and followed by walking to Plaza Jakabaring Sport City.

“President reviewed a number of venues that will be used for the 2018 Asian Games event,” Bey said in a press release on Saturday, July 14.

Some venues are reviewed, including athlete’s guesthouse, bowling venue, shooting range venue, beach volleyball venue, skateboard venue, and rowing and canoeing venue. “President also inaugurated the five venues,” he said.

At Jakabaring Rowing and Canoeing Regatta Course venue, Jokowi rowed 100 meters by dragon boat with 7 national rowing athletes. 

The 18th Asian Games will be held in Jakarta and Palembang from August 18 to September 2.
