TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Rini Soemarno targets the Trans-Java Toll Road Merak-Probolinggo can be completed by the end of 2018.
“I plan to drive by myself from Merak to there,” said Rini in her speech at the ECGL Leadership Forum at Fairmont Hotel Jakarta on Wednesday, July 4.
Previously, Head of Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT), Herry Trisaputra Zuna said that in 2018, the toll road segments in Pantura (north coast lane) are fully connected, including the toll roads to the east until Probolinggo. “Until the end of 2018, Trans-Java Toll can be connected not only to Surabaya but also Probolinggo,” he said.

Rini said the Trans-Java Toll Road has actually been launched since 1996. However, it has never been connected. “Finally we took over it from the private companies at that time, we bought it back,” he said.
Minister Rini also explained that the toll road construction must wait for the state budget for the land acquisition, therefore, a breakthrough in communication with the officials must be made.
