TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) chairman Prabowo Subianto and the Board of Trustees chairman of National Mandate Party (PAN) Amien Rais has met in front of Kaaba, Mecca, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, June 2, while performing Umrah (Islamic pilgrimage).
“Pak Amien and the entourage had finished umrah first,” said PAN politician Drajad Wibowo today. On late Friday, Amien decided to stay in Masjid al-Haram to perform other prayers.

According to Drajad, both figures met after Prabowo finishing tawaf (part of pilgrimage by circling Kaaba) and other prayers. “At around 02:00 am, Prabowo informed he would go to the mosque to start tawaf.”
The photo sent by Drajad showed Amien and Prabowo donning Ihram clothing (special cloth during pilgrimage) as well as a number of figures from 212 Alumni Brotherhood including Slamet Maarif and Ansufri Idrus Sambo.
Drajad explained they only greeted each other, performed prayer, and took a collective photo. “No political matters discussed.”
The PAN politician said Amien Rais and Prabowo had the session until dawn prayer. “Both of them and the entourage returned to their own hotels after the prayer,” he added.
