TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Businessmen expressed their objection to the plan on the revision of 2018 Eid collective leave, from four days to seven days. It is considered to be burdening the production process and export activities.

Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Businessmen Hariyadi B. Sukamdani responded to the plan on additional days of the collective leave. He said the long holiday would decline production in the industrial sector.

“For example, at the synthetic fiber industry. If the long holiday is applied, it can reduce the production volumes by 50 percent,” he said Tuesday, May 1.

According to Hariyadi, it will also affect the export activity. He estimated that the condition will cause a disruption on sailing schedules and the addition of distribution costs.

In the service sector, said Hariyadi, although the tourist attractions will be crowded by visitors, it will not occur in all regions. The areas that do not have the leading tourist areas will be quiet.

He mentioned the initial regulation of collective leave; two days before and after Eid Day, in fact, has been in accordance with the expectations of businessmen. Because the production process the industry will not stop for too long, so the inflation risk will not be too high.
