TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) Deputy Governor Dody Budi Waluyo predicted the government`s decision on adding the collective leave for Eid holiday will boost the public consumption which will drive the country`s economy.

“So the more money to be used, the consumption rate will increase,” said the central bank deputy in his office on Thursday, April 19.

As reported earlier, the Indonesian government has added three more days of collective leave for Eid al-Fitr 1439 H which takes place on June 14-15. The extra days are on June 11-12 and June 20.

The regulation is stipulated in a Joint Decree (SKB) of three ministers, namely Religious Affair Minister Lukman Hakim Saifudin, Manpower Minister Hanif Dhakiri, and Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Asman Abnur. The signing of the decree was witnessed by Transportation Ministry Budi Karya Sumadi on Wednesday, April 18.

According to Dody, the additional collective leave will not disrupt the business sector which he deemed that the company must have prepared the stock. “The production will not be disturbed so they can serve the consumer as usual,” said the BI deputy governor.
