TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Foreign Affairs Ministry has called on the public to report any abuses against migrant workers, instead of posting them on social media. Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arrmanatha Nasir said spreading such a case would not help.
Arrmanatha made the statement in relation to a case in which an Indonesian migrant worker in Malaysia was splashed with acid. The news went viral social media.

Arrmnatha explained that the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Jakarta and Indonesian embassies have standard operating procedures when it comes to handling any abuses against migrant workers. The Indonesian government is committed to finding individuals responsible for cases involving migrant workers.
Channel News Asia published statistics on Wednesday, February 21, mentioning there are 124,664 migrant workers employed as maids in Malaysia. The figure is the second largest after the number of migrant workers in the Middle East.
