TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has prepared some steps in case of e-KTP graft suspect Setya Novanto pretrial victory, spokesman Setiadi said.
Setiadi said that the KPK will issue an investigation warrant to question Setya Novanto. “It’s regulated in the Constitutional Court ruling but we don’t expect it to happen,” he said at South Jakarta District Court on September 28.
However, Setiadi said that the anti-graft agency believes that judge Cepi Iskandar will reject the pretrial motion filed by Novanto. “We expect to win it,” he said.

The KPK has submitted evidence in chief comprising 700 evidence in various forms, such as letters, documents, as well as recoding stored on CDs or flash drives. “The main point is we want to apply Article 44 paragraph 2 of the KPK Law that requires sufficient evidence of at least two items,” Setiadi said.
Aside from physical evidence, conclusions from expert witnesses presented by the KPK at the court are also expected to strengthen the agency’s case. “Yesterday, an expert witness said that corruption is a crime that is planned and conducted jointly for personal gain and can be categorized as a conspiracy, all of it can be found in e-KTP project,” Setiadi said.
Therefore, Setiadi believes the KPK will win the pretrial hearing. “We, the KPK, as the respondent remain confident and of the opinion that the naming of the suspect, claimant [Novanto] was legitimate, applicable and according to the procedure based on legal facts,” he said.
Meanwhile, Setya Novanto’s lawyers did not comment much. They expect that the judge will hand down the best verdict in this case.
