Ahok Wants Blue Tickets Issuance for Odd-Even Traffic Violators

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Violators of the odd-even license plate policy will be subject to sanctions starting Tuesday, August 30, 2016. The odd-even policy is implemented on Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin, Jalan Rasuna Said, and Jalan Gatot Subroto.
Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama has called on Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Directorate and Jakarta Transportation Department to issue blue tickets for traffic violators. The blue ticket would allow traffic violators to admit their faults and pay a maximum fine without having to go to court.
“The odd-even policy is new, I think the red ticket is not necessary. Because it would need to be settled on the court, we have asked [the authorities] to issue the blue ticket instead,” Ahok said at the City Hall.
Thus, traffic fine revenue will directly go to the province and drivers would not be required to go to court, he said. Ahok has ensured that there would be no irregularities in the implementation of the odd-even policy. “[Irregularities] would not happen. The violators must pay immediately, the traffic ticket will be issued, it has a serial number on it,” Ahok said.
