TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The Jakarta administration will start implementing the odd-even license plate policy at main roads in the Capital in late July.
The new system governs that vehicles with odd license plate are allowed to be on the road on odd calendar dates, while those with even license plate are permitted to operate on even calendar dates.
The Jakarta Police via its official Twitter account @TMCPoldaMetro announced the implementation of the new policy on Monday, July 11, 2016.
The Jakarta Transportation Agency decided to implement the system to replace the three-in-one policy that was removed in May 2016.
Locations where the new system is to be implemented include Jalan Sisingamangaraja, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman Jalan M.H. Thamrin Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, and Jalan Gatot Subroto.
The policy has been disseminated starting from June 28 until July 26, and the trial will start from July 27 until August 26. The new system will be implemented from Monday to Friday at 7-10 a.m. and 4.30-7.30 p.m.
Upon a four-day evaluation, the odd-even license plate policy, as well as the sanction for violators, will be officially in effect starting from August 2016.
