Ahok Claims e-Budgeting Aims to Avoid Budget Irregularities

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) said that the e-budgeting system is the government’s innovation in formulating of budget to avoid budget irregularities.
According to Ahok, the system was made to protect the government’s programs that have been formulated by regional working units so as not to be modified by members of the Regional House of Representatives.
He also said that if the budget formulation is still using Microsoft excel application, lawmakers could modify the programs that had been formulated.
Basuki added that the system could not be opened by anyone unless by those who hold the password, which is know only by the governor and the regional Development Planning Board.
Basuki further said that the DPRD does not have the rights to formulate budget following the ruling of the Constitutional Court Number 35/PUU-XI/2013.
