TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President-elect Joko Widodo will announce his cabinet structure on October 20 or after his presidential inauguration at the House of Representatives building. “I can announce the organization on October 20, but not the people. I hope I can announce the people on October 21,” said Jokowi on Wednesday.

He said the number of the ministries so far was 33, with four coordinating ministries. Jokowi added, however, changes to the cabinet's posture are still possible. “We are still open for suggestions,” said Jokowi.

The ministers are divided into 18 positions for non-party professionals and 15 positions for party-wired professionals.

Based on an internal meeting last week, there were several ministries in the Yudhoyono administration that would be merged, including the Industry and Trade Ministry (the merger of the Industry Ministry and Trade Ministry), the Food and Sovereignty Ministry (the merger of the Agriculture Ministry and the Fisheries and Marine Affairs Ministry) and the High Education and Technological Research Ministry (from the separation of the Education and Culture Ministry).

Meanwhile, new ministries comprise the Demographic Ministry, the Rural and Disadvantaged Regions Ministry, the Agrarian Ministry, the Creative Economy Ministry, the Labor Ministry and the Housing and Infrastructure Ministry.

The four coordinating ministries are the Coordinating Ministry for Legal, Political and Security Affairs, the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime, Natural Resources and Environment and the Coordinating Ministry for Human and Socio-Cultural Development.

Unchanged ministries include the Religious Affairs Ministry, the Health Ministry, the Home Affairs Ministry, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Finance Ministry, the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry and the State Enterprises Ministry.
