Seventeen Indonesians Identified Aboard MH17, Number may Increase

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur (Embassy) has received information regarding the crashed Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH17 in East Ukraine, a press release stated. As a follow to the information, the Embassy has coordinated with the Indonesian Embassy in the Hague, the Indonesian Embassy in Kiev, and other respective authorities, specifically MAS and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), to collect more detailed information regarding the crash.
Based on information provided by MAS and KLIA, there were 17 Indonesians aboard the MH17. However, the number may increase because authorities are still having difficulties in identifying the identity and nationality of each victim.
The Embassy will continue to coordinate with MAS and KLIA to receive information updates and will prepare steps to facilitate the victims' families. (*)
