TEMPO.CO, Bandung - Low-cost carrier Indonesia Air Asia communications manager Audrey Progastama Petriny said the airline would cancel 81 flights to Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport, which was closed to regular flights for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit. “Both domestic and international flights,” she told Tempo on Monday, September 30, 2013.
She said the airport would be temporarily closed for the APEC Summit for three days on October 6 from 10.00-20.00 local time, on October 8 from 13.00-20.00 local time, and on October 9 from 07.00-14.00 local time.
Audrey said Air Asia had rescheduled 53 flights and cancelled 81 others following the closure. “They were all flights on the closing dates,” she added.
Audrey said Air Asia had notified affected passengers on the cancellation and rescheduling. “We have sent notification via e-mails and text messages,” she said.
She said the airline would provide affected passengers with three options of compensation. First, passengers could use the airfare as Credit Shell—money deposited for 90 days for future purchase of air tickets. Second, passengers could ask for refund; and third, they could ask for rescheduled flights to Bali.
