TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ahmad Fathanah, the suspect of imported beef graft case stole the enquiry files with his name from the Anti-Graft Commission (KPK) on January 30, or a day after his detention.
"It is true that I took the original documents of the enquiry report (BAPK). The files are BAPK on my behalf," he said as cited from documents Tempo acquired.
The documents Fathanah took are files of enquiry information performed by KPK investigator Novel Baswedan. He took the papers when other investigators were outside the enquiry room. Then he hid the papers within his own documents. "I put [the papers] together with evidence receipts from the investigator," he admitted.
To make it worse, his actions were caught on camera by the Commission’s CCTV. Investigators then requested information from Fathanah regarding the theft. He dodged, saying he wanted to study the documents. They were sent to his lawyer, Rozi, the next morning.
KPK arrested Ahmad Fathanah at Hotel Le Meridien, Jakarta on January 29, together with Maharani Suciyono. KPK suspected Fathanah to receive grafts amounting Rp. 1.3 billion from PT. Indoguna Utama, a beef importer. The money was to be given to Luthfi Hasan Ishaaq.
