TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Red Hot Chili Peppers (RHCP) lead singer Anthony Kiedis reported that he was visiting Indonesia, specifically the Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra. He looks familiar with the indigenous Mentawai tribe.

This can be seen from the upload of the @chilipeppers account which shows Anthony Kiedis enjoying smoking kretek cigarette with two local residents wearing local traditional clothing.

"3 Shamans tobacco ceremony," was written in the photo caption, Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

Indonesian netizens who knew the singer's location gave their welcome. Like the host of the travel show My Trip My Adventure, David John Schaap, who commented on the photo, "Mentawai culture! Legend!!"

"Chillin' with the Mentawai Island locals! They sure know how to have a good time," wrote the Wonderfull Indonesia account.

The 61-year-old musician is known to have an attraction to Indonesia. In 1996, he was in the spotlight because he got a tattoo on his right arm with a Borneo motif from Kalimantan.

He also revealed to Daniel Mananta, Indonesian actor and presenter, in 2012 that Anthony had a dream of visiting and surfing in Mentawai. This year, Anthony Kiedis finally able to visit the area.
