TEMPO.CO, JakartaAn Indonesian woman is among eight suspects wanted by Malaysian police for allegedly being involved in Sabah’s biggest drug trafficking syndicate.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the suspects consisted of three locals, four Filipinos, and one Indonesian woman who are all aged 30 to 40. He said the first suspect was a former police member who retired early, Haibil Kiraman (Haibil). The members of the syndicate are; Sahairul Sabudin (Bantayan), Absar Musa (Absar), Hasan Syamsuddin (Nas Botak), Joel Edwin (Dedek ), Muhammad Sing Harun Musa (Thambi), Rohani Mhd Yunus (Karisa) and Manan Ungok (Mike).

“Members of the public who have information on the suspects have been told to contact ASP Mohammad Izzat Hassan at 019-6667535,” he said during a press conference in Bukit Aman on Tuesday.

The suspects’ last known location was in Kota Kinabalu for Absar, Sabah for Thambi, and Tawau for the rest.

“We will find and arrest any police officer or personnel or other public servant involved in this syndicate, and if there is enough evidence we will charge them in court. We will not tolerate such matters,” he said.

Ayob Khan also reported that out of the 11 suspects arrested on Dec. 25, three involved in the syndicate are serving their sentences in Sabah. The three will be charged in court on March 1 for their role as transported, he added.

The police also froze a total of 42 bank accounts owned by the syndicate from Dec. 27 to Jan. 19, which amounted to RM1.86 million and RM543.378 million.

“Among the properties that were frozen were 10 machinery worth almost RM1 million and 11 plots of land worth RM2.81 million,” Ayob Khan said.

In addition, 20 vehicles of various types estimated to be worth RM6.7 million jewelry worth RM100,000, and RM35,041 worth of money were also seized.
