TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism is predicted to grow even more in 2024. Experts have predicted several holiday trends this year.
A vacation company, Neilson Beach Clubs, initiated a survey that analyzed its customers' holiday data from summer 2023 bookings. The poll was conducted by OnePoll among 2,000 adults in the UK.
“People are increasingly using their time away from work to not only recharge their batteries mentally but stay in shape physically,” said the company’s CEO, David Taylor.
Here is a list of new holiday trends based on Neilson Beach Clubs' survey.
1. Picklecore
This refers to holidays that involve playing pickleball, a combination of tennis, ping pong, and badminton. As many as 38 percent of holidaymakers would play pickleball while on vacation, influenced by celebrities, including Emma Watson, George Clooney, and Kim Kardashian.
2. Sportcation
This type of vacation allows individuals to learn a new sport during holidays. As many as 42 percent of respondents would generally like to learn a new sport on holiday that they cannot do at home.
3. Famil-e-rides
The "fami-e-rides" trend allows multigenerational vacationers to take trips on e-bikes. This trend grows as nearly two-thirds of holidaymakers or around 65 percent said it is crucial to them that any vacation spot has activities that appeal to all age groups when they travel as a family.
4. Relactive
The relactive break trend is driven by the fact that 35 percent of vacationers believe that they need to stay active on holidays since they find it difficult to relax while sunbathing.
5. Repeat retreat
The survey also showed that 34 percent of holidaymakers said they are likely to plan a vacation as soon as they return from their last one to get over the holiday blues.
6. Solo Moon
The Solo Moon trend marks the rise of travelers holidaying alone. According to the survey, 52 percent of travelers plan to travel alone and do whatever they want.
7. Boomerang
It was also revealed that 54 percent of respondents said they would go on an overseas vacation with their parents in 2024, but only if their parents were willing to foot the entire expense.
David Taylor believed that vacations offer the chance to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Because of this, many people view holidays as essential to their well-being, providing an opportunity to rejuvenate and engage in activities they enjoy.
