TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice presidential candidate Ma’ruf Amin claimed that popular cleric Yusuf Mansur wanted to support him. “He sees me as his teacher. Because I am his teacher, so he wants to join me,” Ma’ruf said, at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Friday, August 31.
Ma’ruf met with Yusuf Mansur at the former's house yesterday on Thursday, August 30, to discuss the Joko Widodo-Ma’ruf Amin presidential campaign team. Yusuf said he wanted to support Ma’ruf on this occasion.
However, Ma'ruf said that Yusuf would not join the Jokowi-Ma'ruf national campaign team. “If only to join, a position is not necessary,” he said.

But today, Yusuf Mansur met vice presidential candidate Sandiaga Uno during Friday prayer on Jl. Sriwijaya, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. On that occasion, Yusuf said he had not yet decided whether to join Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin or Prabowo-Sandiaga.
Yusuf Mansur said he was still neutral. “Until now it is safer in the middle, you can go to the right, you can go to the left. But there are still eight months left, hahaha," Yusuf Mansur said at the Taqwa Mosque, Jalan Sriwijaya, South Jakarta on Friday, August 31.
